The Art of Noticing

Creative Retreat | Comporta, Portugal | October 5-9, 2024

As we come together in a new place, during the gentle shift of seasons, we want to pay special tribute to the little things - which are actually, the big things. Our 4 night, 5 day Art of Noticing retreat is dedicated to a slow pace, encouraging opportunities for pause so that we can take in our surroundings with curiosity and appreciation.

Together, we’ll make art, move, and nourish our bodies in an intimate group of like-minded, inspiring women. Days will be plentiful but relaxed with creative workshops, mindful yoga classes, a cooking workshop, and a healthy amount of time to chill by Casa da Volta’s (unreal) pool, or explore one of the most beautiful coastlines in all of Portugal.

As a result, you can expect expanded creativity, more capacity for mindfulness and rediscovering a sense of wonder for the world.

If you’re looking for an opportunitiy to ground down, expand your community, discover a new place, and rediscover a sense of wonder for the world, this one’s for you.

Under the sun and away

Lying just south of Lisbon is the idyllic region of Comporta. More off the grid than not, the landscape lends itself to total relaxation and will allow for deeper connections with ourselves and each other. We’ll have the space to ourselves along with full access to all amenities including the pool, fitness center, and bicycles. Aside from our planned workshops and meals, there’s plenty to do on and off-site. There will be time set aside each day to relax or explore the surrounding area.

Together, in an intimate group, we’ll settle in to explore our creativity, connect with our bodies through yoga, meditation, and breathwork, indulge in thoughtful meals at the table, and find adventure in Portugal’s countryside.

Slow days at a rural retreat

With a strong focus on well-being and togetherness, this retreat has been designed to inspire creativity within artists and non artists alike. Our days will be balanced with plenty of downtime and relaxation as well as workshops and planned activities designed to help you connect deeper to yourself, other guests, and the landscape’s natural elements.

Days will be relaxed, with plenty of time to unwind. Each day you'll be invited to join us for one of our curated workshops (think: drawing, painting, cooking, ceramics, etc.). These workshops will play on the autumnal equinox, which collectively symbolizes a time to slow down and harvest the seeds you’ve planted earlier in the year. You can expect opportunities to reflect, rebalance, and refocus.

At mealtimes, we'll meet you at the table, where we'll connect and celebrate thoughtful and seasonal plant-focused dishes reflecting Portugal’s local cuisine.

How to get there

Casa da Volta is located a 1.5 hour drive from Lisbon, where the closest airport is located. You can also fly to Faro and drive from the Algarve, it takes around 2.5 hours, but you can stop at a vineyard on the way (we love Herdade do Malhadinha Nova near Beja). Once you arrive in the local town of Grandola, the villa is only a 15 minute drive away. You can see the villa (though under a different name) here.

Note that we’ll provide more detailed and accurate directions to guests as we get closer to the start date.

What People Are Saying

“This retreat showed me the path I am meant to follow at a time when I felt lost. Through the surroundings, the yoga lessons, the workshops, the wholesome and nourishing meals, and most importantly through the safe space of conversation, connection and trust created amongst and by the women of the retreat, you feel like you are living in a utopia. Founded and organised by three extraordinary women, accompanied by an astounding chef, this is a retreat and an experience that can not be forgotten.”

— Katerina P.

“Sol retreats created a space for art, warmth, love, and freedom for us all to enjoy. We were brought together with a nourishing plant-based menu, guided yoga practices, and expert art masterclasses throughout the retreat along with free time to explore the beautiful surroundings. The whole experience is one that will be cherished for a very long time. I came away with more confidence and look forward to the next adventure.”
